That was the moment intuition & curl power took over!
I experienced a soul connection with the woman in the pic who was cutting my hair for the first time. It was last November at Curls On Top, a salon for curly girls in Laguna Beach, where owner, Vicki Vela, hosted a fundraiser for Keep A Child Alive with Curly Girls author, Lorraine Massey, as the special guest. Yes, it was a pricey donation, and I almost didn’t do it, but then I remembered that time I turned down an offer have my hair cut by Vidal Sassoon at a hair show when I was 15, and said “sign me up”! I’d recently become a disciple of Lorraine’s philosophy and I liked that she was working for charity and didn’t want to miss out on having my hair cut by the Curly Girl Diva herself!
Hair in the chair often leads to open hearts and mouths. If salon chairs could talk…
At some point, Lorraine asked what kind of work I do. Explaining that I’m an intuitive and soul coach is way different than when I used to explain that I was art dealer. But, Lorraine “got me” right away. She mentioned her recent opening of a retreat center in New York and asked if I’d be interested in teaching there. “Sure, let’s talk”, I said. I gave her my business card featuring a circular spark of light on one side. She looked at the image and said “I have to show you something!”, and hurried off to retrieve it. She returned with a spiral-shaped curl in her hand, one she picked-up off the salon floor that morning as a keepsake. It was a beautiful curl and well, it was a very close match to my spiral! We laughed and spoke about all things spiritual for the rest of our time together. And, one thing led to another, as they say!
